The earthquake that occurred on the territory of Armenia on February 13 caused panic among the population. In order not to panic, we have prepared a brief instruction for you on how to act during an earthquake, how to navigate properly, and how to help the elderly and children who are with us.

If you are in a building during an earthquake.

  •  If you are on the 1st or 2nd floor of a multi-storey building' you should leave the building immediately;
  •  If you are on the 3rd floor or higher' do not leave the building' the stairs and stairwells will be clogged with panicked people, the elevators can be shut down at any time. Also, first' usually collapsing ladders and stepladders;
  •  You can stand near the main load-bearing walls of the middle part of the building, corners made of them, doorways in those walls, posts, holding a chair, bag or other suitable thing to protect yourself from falling plaster. You can also hide under a table or under a bed;
  •  Stay away from the outside walls and glass of the building-they are the first to collapse;
  •  Beware of heavy and bulky objects - cabinets, refrigerators 'which can move and overturn;
  •  After the shaking stops try to get out of the building by a pre-determined method'.
  •  Beware of falling debris' broken glass' cut wires' as you exit the building
  • You may suffocate from the dust caused by the collapse. So use a handkerchief, scarf, or a scrap of clothing.

If you are outside during an earthquake.

Stop in a relatively open area, away from bridges, high stories, and power line towers. Stay in the car, follow the information given by the car radio, and act accordingly.
  •  All vehicles are strictly forbidden to enter the disaster area, except for emergency vehicles, rescue vehicles, fire brigades and ambulances.
  •  If you are in the subway.
  •  If the subway is a shelter during a bombing, it is just as dangerous in the event of a major earthquake.
  •  Don't panic and take care of your safety
  •  Hold on to objects, such as luggage racks and iron bars, to prevent you from falling.
  •  During a 5-point earthquake, the power will be cut, train traffic will be temporarily halted, and emergency lights at subway stations will automatically turn on.
  •  It is dangerous to approach the exits, it can cause panic.
  •  Follow the instructions given by the station loudspeaker.
